Friday Harbor boys soccer team starts defense of state title

Friday Harbor’s No. 1-ranked boys soccer team starts defending its Class 1B/2B state title at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Anacortes High School. The Wolverines (11-1-0), the Northwest 1B/2B League champion and top District 1 finisher, host Auburn Adventist (10-5-0), the District 2 No. 2 team, in the Bi-District semifinal. The Falcons are fifth in the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association RPI rankings.

The Friday Harbor-Auburn winner advances to the Bi-District Championship and state-seeding contest at 6 p.m. Nov. 4 at Sammamish High School and will play the winner of a Nov. 1 semifinal match between Mount Vernon Christian (12-3-1) and Evergreen Lutheran (8-4-0). The semifinal losers also advance to the state tourney’s opening round Nov. 10-11.
