Friday Harbor fastpitch team overpowers Orcas Island, completes league play unbeaten
Friday Harbor overpowered Orcas Island 13-4 in fastpitch softball Tuesday, May 7. The Wolverines, who already clinched their conference crown, complete the 2019 Northwest 2B/1B League schedule 12-0 and advance to the playoffs as District 1’s No. 1 seed. They finish the regular season 16-4.
The Wolverines led 6-2 going into the sixth inning but added six more runs to break away from the Vikings. Thea Seitz smacked two-run homer in that frame and doubled earlier in the game. Ava Hoffman punched out three hits, reached base on balls twice and scored three times. Bristol Halverson rapped two singles and scored three times. Liz Cruz connected for two base hits and had two RBI.
Raylee Miniken earned the win. She struck out five and gave up five hits.
