2016 Chicken races: And they're off....

Colorful chickens with various amounts of racing spirit were cheered on by their owners in the annual Chicken Races at the 2016 San Juan County Fair. The poultry owners gathered in the center of a circle in the Main Arena and did their best to hold onto their birds until emcee Scott Bell started the race.  WIth plenty of cheering and encouragement from their owners, the chickens took off. The first chicken across the perimeter of the circle won the race.  Matt Pranger photos
