 Friday, 9/29 at 6:30 p.m. Coupeville (1-3) at Friday Harbor (2-1) 

* The Wolverines and Wolves go way back.  They first met in Friday Harbor’s initial season 50 years ago in 1973…CHS won 20-14 at their place.

* This season the Wolves lost their first three games - to Klahowya 28-25, South Whidbey 48-28 and Sultan 49-13. The Whidbey Island outfit got their first win Friday, a 48-6 pounding of La Conner.

 Wolverine – Wolves Stuff

* FH leads the series 16-15 but trails 8-6 at home.

* Longest FH win streak – 5 (1975-85).

* Longest CHS win streak – 5 (1986-90).

* Most points by FH – 61 (FH 61, CHS 22 in 2005).

* Most points by CHS – 46 (CHS 46, FH 6 in 2000). 

* Most points combined – 83 (FH 61, CHS 22 in 2005).

* Fewest points combined – 17 (FH 17, CHS 0 in 2018).

* Largest winning margin by FH – 46 (FH 53, CHS 7 in 2019).

* Largest winning margin by CHS 40 (CH 46, FH 6 in 1986).

* FH has scored 648 points (20.9 per game) and CHS 652 (21.0).

* FH has shutout CHS once.  CHS has shutout FH twice.

* This has been an off and on series - played 1973-76 (4 games), 1983-90 (8), 1997-2007 (13 – twice in ’97 and ’98) and 2018-22 (6 – twice in ’21 and ’22).

Odds and Ends

* A Wolverine victory Friday will even their all-time home record to 115-115-1.

* The team has won 14 of their last 16 league games.

* Three of the four Wolverine’s nonleague games are against teams in larger classifications.  Bellingham is a 2A while South Whidbey and Granite Falls are 1A.  The fourth nonleague is against another 2B school - Forks.

Games Against Sophomore & JV Teams

* Some history.  In the past the Wolverines have taken on some sophomore and JV reams from larger schools.  With the exception of one game in 2015, all these occurred between 1974 and ’91.

They were a good deal for local fans as 29 of the 35 contests were here in town.

* FH is 16-9 vs. sophomores – Cascade 4-0, Everett 1-0, Mariner 2-0, Marysville 0-1, Monroe 1-0, Oak Harbor 4-0, Sehome 1-1 and Snohomish 3-7.

* Against JV squads FH is 8-2 – Arlington 1-0, Blaine 3-0, Lynden 0-1, Meridian 1-0, Mount Baker 1-0, Nooksack Valley 2-0 and Sedro-Woolley 0-1.
