G. Philip Mayer Sr. (Phil) March 7, 1939-October 3, 2023
Born March 7, 1939, G. Philip Mayer Sr. (Phil), age 84, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2023. Phil was the middle child of G.O. and Ruth Mayer who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother Roger Mayer, sister Margi Coombs, brother-in-law Ed Coombs, and sister-in-law Ann Mayer Scaffidi.
He is survived by his loving children, Sam (Matt), Bill (Robin), and Philip Jr as well as his grandchildren Lucas, Caleb, Noah, Hayden, Isaac, Will, and Olivia.
Phil worked for nineteen years at Oscar Mayer as well as several years in the restaurant industry before finding what ultimately became a passion for teaching. After getting his teaching degree, he taught high school as well as teaching English in China over two summers.
Phil loved hunting, fishing, boating, and hosting family and friends at his home on the San Juan Islands. He was a regular volunteer at the Catholic Church and Rotary Club.
At the request of his family, his committal will be held privately, and a small celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
