Sheriff's Log San Juan Islands May 22-28:Team effort rescues cat caught in wire fence; DUI arrest on ferry; Inflatable stand up paddle board stolen

San Juan County Deputies responded to 1351 calls from May 22-28 2024 including: San Juan deputies responded to a report of a DUI on an incoming ferry. A driver of a vehicle was found to be asleep at the wheel with a cup of whiskey and a beer in the cup holders. The driver was arrested for physical control, obstructing a law enforcement office and resisting arrest. An Orcas Island Deputy was dispatched to a theft report in the Eastsound area. The reporting party advised that their inflatable stand up paddle board had been stolen from the public access beach near the Eastsound County Dock at Madrona Point. The incident was documented. A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of a cat stuck in wire fencing. With the help of Friday Harbor APS and a Veterinarian, the feral cat was sedated enough to get it unstuck from the fence. APS then took custody of the cat and transported it for an evaluation. A report was completed.
