San Juan County Deputies responded to 228 calls from August 16-22, 2023 including: The Sheriff's Office responded to a deceased person in the water off Center Island. The unknown subject was recovered and the case is currently under investigation. A San Juan Island deputy responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway. The deputy arrived and observed two occupants slumped over with aluminum foil on the driver's lap. The two were awoken and the driver was arrested for DUI - Drugs. They admitted to smoking fentanyl. An Orcas Island Deputy assisted the Loudon County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee with a fraud investigation. Money was recovered during a fraud investigation and returned to the victim who is an Orcas Island resident. A Lopez resident called for assistance with a computer issue. They were directed to appropriate resources.
