Sept. 2 Aleutian Isle Update: All valves and vents closed off by divers

Status Update 5 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2002: Divers have secured all valves and capped all fuel vents that they are aware of on the vessel. There is no fuel leaking from the wreck of the 49-foot fishing vessel Aleutian Isle.

Work continues to remove netting that is a safety hazard to divers and wildlife, and could hamper the lifting operations.
