The Town of Friday Harbor places a priority on trees. Named a Tree City in 2018, the town has been known to protect trees when possible as in this case when they rerouted the sidewalk around this 80-year-old tree. When preserving a tree isn't possible, the town has made efforts to replace trees with ones appropriate to urban areas. Everyone is invited to celebrate Arbor Day on April 12 in Sunken Park.
